Losing weight can often feel like an uphill battle. Every time you lose a pound and experience the feeling for victory and joy, you go back to the scale a couple of hours later, only to uncover that you’ve gained that pound back. The fact of the matter is that your attitude has a lot to do with your ability to lose weight. Most of us already know about diet and exercise as they contribute to weight loss. However, there are three other secrets that you should keep in mind, which may be holding you back from achieving you weight loss dreams.
See it! What is the end goal that you desire on your weight loss journey? Do you want to get skinny to fit into a particular outfit or are you just trying to be healthier and feel better in your body? One of the biggest issues that occurs when people lose weight is that they only have a goal in front of them and try and think about weight loss in terms of the number of pounds they want to lose.
Consider what it takes to really picture in your head the way that you will look, the reactions you will get. Don’t be stingy when you are painting on the details; use full color and perfect your visualization technique.
Speak it! It is really easy to let go of the things that you never say out loud. Just like a thought that passes through your mind, a weight loss goal that is never spoken could get lost in translation. Begin by saying your goal out loud to yourself on a daily basis. This will help you to internalize and eventually reach your goal.
Take some time and really consider what your options are going to be and what you can do to make sure that you are going to be getting the results that you are after. Putting up small reminders to yourself all over your home, in your car and even in your office can help you remember the reality of this goal.
Internalize! Internalizing your goal is the third step, but it can be the most difficult. Your goal to lose weight needs to be something that you understand and embrace whole-heartedly. Take some time and really understand that you are going to be losing weight. This is far from an impossible goal; this is something that you can do. You can take it on, and you can win.
In many cases, losing weight is something people dread doing and something that they think they are going to lose at. Replace these feelings and fears with a positive attitude and positive feelings.
Your weight loss journey is going to have obstacles; there is no doubt about it. But take some time to figure out what it is that you really want. Once you’ve done that, begin the journey by working on your mind and your attitude. They are sure to help you reach your weight loss goals.
